Her career in journalism began with Myrtle Beach South Carolina as an anchor and news reporter for WPDE-TV. She then worked as a morning reporter and anchor for WCBD TV. O'Dell's stories in Charleston concerning the lack of leniency by police when it comes to DUI cases, prompted the State Law Enforcement Division to look into the matter. The result was states authorities enforcing more rigorous regulations in these cases. Ms. O'Dell was honored by her colleagues at the Associated Press with the Best Report of the Year Awards to all media South Carolina. After her time living in Charleston, O'Dell worked as an anchor co-host for the NBC's Miami Station WTVJ-TV and also as an investigative journalist. After that, she became a part of Access Hollywood to work as a weekday and weekend correspondent. O'Dell, as well as anchoring the main show for Access Hollywood, also appears on NBC News Today as well Dateline NBC. She's covered events such as The Oscars The Emmys The Grammys and The Golden Globe Awards as well as co-hosting a number of pre-show arrivals in preparation for The Emmys and the Golden Globes.
